Are you “Hodling” cryptos?

While writing this article my Microsoft word autocorrect defined the word HODL as misspelled. Is it misspelled? Let’s find out.

Ever wondered where does the word hodl came from, People in crypto public forums have been using this word a lot lately, and for a good reason. This is not a drunk texting typo that I made or anyone made but, the origin might be somewhat likely.

According to Investopedia “At 10:03 a.m. UTC on Dec. 18, GameKyuubi posted “I AM HODLING,” a drunk, semi-coherent, typo-laden rant about his poor trading skills and determination to simply hold his bitcoin from that point on. “I type d that tyitle twice because I knew it was wrong the first time. Still wrong. w/e,” he wrote about the now-famous misspelling of “holding.” “WHY AM I HOLDING? I’LL TELL YOU WHY,” he continued. “It’s because I’m a bad trader and I KNOW I’M A BAD TRADER. Yeah you good traders can spot the highs and the lows pit pat piffy wing wong wang just like that and make a millino bucks sure no problem bro.”

Let me tell you what HODL stands for actually and another reason why it is associated with the cryptocurrency space?

“HODL” stands for hold on for dear life and it is generally used for holding the coin even if its value is depreciating over time as bitcoin crashed many times but the hodlers are happy to hold it for life and reap the fruits in the long term. From what I have seen nowadays it is mostly associated with “Dogecoin” and people also combine the term “Hodling till the moon” with that particular crypto coin.

All thanks to Mr. Musk the techno king of Tesla. Don’t forget to catch him live on Saturday night live on May 8. He might hint about the upcoming future of Dogecoin.
